My Life With The Nature
Travelling and practicing environmental protection is very important.
As growing older, I have more and more contact with nature, and the relationship has become deeper and deeper. I gradually realized the importance of nature to mankind. Growing in a beautiful city surrounded by seas in Southeast China, Xiamen, I see this city’s profound changes in a short period of time.
Before it became such a popular city to travel to, my grandpa always brought me to the beach. By that time, the ocean was still blue, and the sand at the beach was soft and white. As time passed, with the rise of the internet, Xiamen has been broadly promoted as a great place to travel. More and more travellers come every single year, and the nature of the city gradually goes ‘down’.
I remembered going to Gulangyu, seeing the travellers throwing garbages randomly at the island; I remembered seeing little kids peeing on the beach; I remembered colorful plastic bags floating on the ocean; I remembered the smell of Gulangyu used to be scentful but now only food due to over commercialization.
This city is of great significance to me. Although it is still beautiful , it gradually became exhausted due to the unloving of most tourists. To this point, Xiamen doesn’t have blue seas anymore, the only color left is grey. I really wish that tourists can take good care of the local environment and ecology wherever they go.
Don’t pick flowers, don’t throw trash, and don’t leave food on the beach(animals will eat them and might get poisoned). If we take good care of the environment, nature will also return us a more beautiful world.
Fortunately, the citizens’ awareness for environmental protection is improving. Many of us realized the importance nature is for us. So I believe that my beautiful hometown Xiamen will get back to its beautiful position as before.
